Question 1: What is AstroCollege and the International Academy of Astrology (IAA)?

AstroCollege and the International Academy of Astrology (IAA) together provide one of the world’s most comprehensive online astrology education platforms, offering both community-based learning and professional-level astrology training.

Question 2: How long has IAA been operating?

IAA was founded in 1997 and is the world’s first and oldest fully online astrology school.

Question 3: Is IAA respected within the professional astrology community?

Yes. IAA is widely respected among professional astrologers and has a long-standing reputation for rigorous, structured education, producing some of the best professional astrologers worldwide.

Question 4: Is IAA affiliated with professional astrology organisations?

Yes. IAA has historical associations with organisations such as NCGR and ISAR, and its diploma is recognised as a mark of advanced professional training.

Question 5: Where is AstroCollege / IAA located?

AstroCollege and the IAA operates entirely online. There is no physical campus. Our instructors, staff, and students are based all over the world.

Question 6: Are all classes online?

Yes. All programs are delivered online through live sessions, recorded classes, or a combination of both.

Question 7: Are classes live or pre-recorded?

Most professional courses include live, interactive classes, which are recorded and made available to enrolled students. However, the professional curriculum is progressively being made available in a self-learning capacity in our Community Learning environment.

Question 8: What platforms are used for classes?

Classes are hosted on secure audio-visual platforms (such as Zoom or GoTo Meeting). Course materials are delivered through online learning portals.

Question 9: What types of programs does AstroCollege and the IAA offer?

AstroCollege and the IAA offers:

- Community-based astrology learning

- Monthly and annual payment programs

- Pay-per-course / semester-based “live instructor” professional education

Question 10: Is there a clear beginner-to-professional pathway?

Yes. Students can start as complete beginners and progress through structured modules toward professional-level competency and certification.

Question 11: Do I need prior astrology knowledge to begin?

No. Beginners start with Basic Astrology, which prepares them for more advanced modules. This is available in an instructor led live class and an on-line self-learning environment, or both

Question 12: Can experienced astrologers start at a higher level?

Yes. Advanced placement may be possible via assessment or examination. Please contact the Education Department and discuss your current level of expertise, as you may be able to sit Course exams and gain education credits to exempt you from having to complete a particular course.

Question 13: Are courses taken in sequence?

Some modules are sequential and build on one another, while others can be taken independently. The Natal Astrology Courses (NAT’s) are usually followed in sequence commencing with Basic Astrology, then NAT-1, NAT-2 and so on. Specialty courses such as Horary, Electional, Vibrational, Jyotish, Medical etc can be taken independently of the NAT Module or in conjunction with it.

Question 15: What does tuition include?

Depending on the program, tuition may include:

- Live instruction

- Course materials

- Recordings

- Required e-books (where specified)

- Community access

Question 16: Are there administrative fees?

Yes. Tuition may include an administrative fee that supports platform costs, course management, and student services. Under the Education Programs of Community, Personal and Professional, these fees are included in your payment.

Question 17: Are books or materials included?

Some courses include required e-books. Others list required or recommended materials that students purchase separately. We have details of recommended books for each course you take and these are available to be purchased via Amazon book links found on our website.

Question 18: Are refunds available?

Refund policies depend on the program type and timing. The Education programs are generally non-refundable on the portion of the monthly fee left to the next renewal date. Tuition-based courses follow a defined refund schedule (outlined in our Terms & Conditions).

Question 19: Can I upgrade or downgrade programs?

Yes. Upgrades or downgrades are allowed, but unused portions of paid periods are generally non-refundable.

Question 20: Do courses include homework?

Professional and diploma-track courses typically include homework. Community & Personal Education programs, Pocket Courses, and many workshops do not.

Question 21: Are there grades?

Yes, in the Professional education programs. Grades are usually based on:

- Class participation

- Homework

- Final examinations

Question 22: What happens if I miss a class?

You will receive access to the recording. Please inform your instructor in advance if possible.

Question 23: Can I take a break from the program?

Yes. Students may take a semester or longer break. Extended breaks may require a review or re-entry assessment; however, you will maintain access via the Community Learning area of all your previous in class recordings that you have attended. Members of the Professional Education Program can re-sit a particular course if required, simply by notifying the college via email and requesting to re-enrol. This is designed to enable education to be made available at a pace that works with your life changes.

Question 24: Are classes recorded?

Yes. All Live Instructor classes are recorded for student access. If the recording is ever not available, it has been the case from time to time when a technical issue may prevent the recording being made available.

Question 25: Are recordings public?

Some community events may be public. Regular classes and professional courses are private and accessible only to enrolled students.

Question 26: Can I keep my camera or microphone off?

Yes. If you prefer not to appear in recordings, you may keep your camera and microphone off, however it is preferred for class interaction to have it on when available.

Question 27: Are children’s classes treated differently?

Yes. Children’s classes are handled with additional privacy safeguards and are not publicly distributed.

Question 28: Is there an online community?

Yes. AstroCollege and the IAA offers community spaces for discussion, learning, and support via the Astrocollege Community and Learning environment.

Question 29: Are there behaviour guidelines?

Yes. All members must follow community standards of respect, professionalism, and constructive dialogue.

Question 30: What happens if community rules are violated?

Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or removal from the community.

Question 31: Do students receive certificates or diplomas?

Yes. Students completing designated pathways receive certificates of Completion for self-paced study and courses that do not invite or require an exam or Achievement (if you sit the final exam and pass) or diplomas.

Question 32: Does AstroCollege and the IAA help me become a professional astrologer?

Yes. Our structured education is designed to support professional-level competence.

Question 33: Does AstroCollege and the IAA guarantee employment?

No. While we provide professional training, career outcomes depend on the individual.

Question 34: Can I take additional courses after graduating?

Yes. Many graduates return for advanced training, electives, or specialised topics.

Question 35: Do I need astrology software?

Not initially. Software is recommended at more advanced stages of study.

Question 36: Do I need a fast computer or special equipment?

A stable internet connection, computer, and basic audio/visual setup are sufficient.

Question 37: Can I study from any country?

Yes. AstroCollege and the IAA is fully international.

Question 38: Do you accept credit transfers from other schools/colleges?

Possibly. Transfer requests are reviewed case by case. Course exams may be sat in order to gain credits for particular subjects and/or gain qualification recognised by the IAA.

Question 39: Can I skip classes I already know?

Yes, via assessment or examination. Fast track options are available for an exam fee per course if you wish to obtain certification.

Question 40: Are scholarships available?

Occasionally through external astrology organisations. AstroCollege and the IAA does not administer scholarships directly, but have been known to subsidise study for individuals under special circumstances. Feel free to reach out and ask if you feel your circumstances warrant consideration.

Question 43: What if I have a dispute or concern?

AstroCollege and the IAA aims to resolve issues amicably and professionally. Escalation options are outlined in our Terms & Conditions.

Question 44: Can I observe classes before enrolling?

Some community events and introductory programs allow observation or trial access. If you wish to meet instructors and other students, please join the Astrocollege Community and attend free sessions advertised in the Events calendar of the community.

Question 45: Are there courses in languages other than English?

Yes. Selected programs are offered in other languages. At this stage, we have a Spanish education area only other than English.

Question 46: How often do new courses start?

Programs run year-round, with structured intakes for professional courses. There are 3 x semesters per calendar year where the Live Instructor led classes run, however the Personal and Professional Education Programs provide self-learning access 24/7 to both courses and also the 400+ video seminar, workshop and pocket course library available.

Question 47: Are course prices fixed?

Prices may change. Always refer to the course registration page for current pricing or the Education Program pages for their pricing schedule.

Question 48: Can I combine community learning with formal education?

Yes. Many students participate in both.

Question 49: Is astrology taught academically or intuitively?

Both. Our programs balance technical skill, theory, interpretation, and practical application.

Yes. While many professional courses have live sessions, recordings are available so students can review material at their own pace within their access period. The Personal and Professional Education Programs allow for you to learn 100% at your own pace and the flexibility for self and instructor led learning options.

Question 52: Are classes suitable for different time zones?

Yes. AstroCollege and the IAA serves students globally, and recordings ensure access regardless of time zone even if you cannot make a specific live class.

Question 53: What happens if I join a course late?

In many cases, late enrolment is possible. Access to previous recordings is typically provided. Availability depends on the specific course. Live classes in a semester usually won’t take new enrolments from Week 3 onwards.

Question 54: Is there a minimum time commitment per week?

Time commitment varies by course. Professional courses generally require weekly reading, class attendance, and practice.

Question 55: What happens if I stop paying a subscription?

Access is suspended at the end of the paid billing period.

Question 56: Can I rejoin after leaving?

Yes. Returning students are welcome, though re-entry conditions may apply for long absences. This is usually because a student who stops learning for a long period of time, my need to refresh or re-learn some of the courses they had done in the past.

Question 57: Is astrology taught from one tradition only?

No. AstroCollege and the IAA presents multiple traditions, techniques, and schools of astrology, along with specialist classes and course. The main focus of the Natal Studies is on Traditional and Modern Astrology techniques.

Question 58: Is the teaching theoretical or practical?

Both. Courses balance theory, interpretation, and real-world application.

Question 59: Will I learn how to read charts professionally?

Yes. Professional pathways focus on technical competence and interpretive skill.

Question 60: Are predictive techniques taught?

Yes. Predictive astrology is covered at advanced levels, starting with the  Professional Studies Module (PSM’s) after the completion of the Natal Studies Module (NAT’s).

Question 61: Is psychological astrology included?

Yes, alongside traditional, predictive, and other approaches.

Question 62: Does AstroCollege and the IAA teach ethical practice?

Yes. Professional responsibility and ethics are embedded throughout the curriculum. Ethics is studied in the Professional Studies Module (PSM’s)

Question 63: Are modern and traditional techniques compared?

Yes. Courses often examine strengths and limitations of different methods.

Question 64: Is astrology taught academically or spiritually?

AstroCollege and the IAA approaches astrology as a disciplined interpretive art, integrating scholarship, technique, and meaning. The spiritual side of astrology is incorporated in the teachings of the college as well to provide a broad range of education in astrology practice.

Question 65: Are exams open book?

Exam formats vary by course and instructor, but generally yes.

Question 66: What happens if I fail an exam?

Reassessment or remediation options may be available, depending on the program. Generally, you will have the option to also resit the exam at a future time.

Question 67: Are certificates issued digitally?

Yes. Certificates and diplomas are issued electronically.

Question 68: Can I retake a course?

Yes. Re-enrolment is generally permitted and is allowed at any stage for members of the Professional Astrology Education Program.

Question 69: Are grades visible to other students?

No. Grades are private. However, community badges and to what level of achievement you are at may be visible to others in order for people to allow for your level of education and understanding.

Question 70: Can I study part-time?

Yes. Most students study part-time.

Question 71: Is attendance mandatory?

Live attendance is encouraged, but recordings provide flexibility. When you are enrolled in a live class for a semester, then attendance does count toward your marks for pass and fail, so when committing to Professional education, it is highly encouraged.

Question 72: Do students interact with each other?

Yes. Interaction occurs through classes, discussions, and community platforms.

Question 73: Is participation required?

Participation expectations vary by course. In the Professional Education Program, there is an expectation that live classes and homework with be attended and submitted. In self-learning environments, participation is not required, however participation in community events will help greatly in developing your understanding of astrology over time.

Yes. Moderation ensures respectful and productive interaction.

Question 75: Can I remain anonymous in the community?

Public names may be visible, but sharing personal details is voluntary.

Question 76: Are community discussions recorded?

Some live discussions may be recorded depending on the format. When they are recorded, they are announced so you are made aware it.

Yes, in appropriate educational contexts.

Yes, you can book astrology consultations with students at various stages of their education through our website. Go to www.astrocollege.com for more details. This a student clinic, whereby any information provided during these consultations helps both you the client and the student learn from the experience but information and statements provided by the student during these sessions cannot be relied upon as advice.

Question 81: What browsers or devices are supported?

Most modern browsers and devices are supported, inclusive of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari and more

Question 82: Do I need to install software?

Generally, no, beyond common conferencing tools such as Zoom and GoTo Meeting apps. Community members have the option to download the Gokollab app and access the Community via the app.

Question 83: Are mobile devices supported?

Yes, though a desktop or laptop is recommended for live classes, tablets and smartphones can also be used.

Question 84: What happens if my internet drops during class?

You can access the recording afterward, or rejoin the class. Your classes should not be locking you out and allow you to reconnect.

Question 85: Can I download recordings?

Access policies vary by program, but yes. Recordings are made available in the Community Learning area and access will be provided for people who attend that particular course, seminar or workshop following the class. Recordings within the Community are not downloadable to your local device or computer at any time.

Regulation varies by country. There are professional astrology bodies that we are affiliated with that guarantees the quality of education standard you will receive from the college.

Start with the Basic Astrology 001 course either as a live student by joining the Professional Astrology Education program, or as a self-study version with the Personal Astrology Education program, or choose to do just the course itself live at the next available semester enrolment.
