Established in 1997, the International Academy of Astrology (IAA) has been continuously operating and developing its astrological curriculum for over three decades, making it one of the world’s longest-running and most respected online astrology education institutions. Over that time, the IAA has built what is widely regarded as the most comprehensive professional astrology curriculum available worldwide.
The IAA Professional Astrology Program is a complete, university-level pathway designed for students who wish to study astrology professionally, while retaining the flexibility to learn at their own pace within a supportive hybrid learning environment, live-learning and self-paced combined.
Enrolment in the program provides full access to the entire IAA astrological library, including over 400 recorded seminars, workshops, masterclasses, mini-courses and specialist lectures, covering foundational, intermediate, and advanced astrology topics across a wide range of techniques and traditions. All content is available on demand, allowing students to structure their learning around their own schedules and commitments.
In addition to self-paced study, students benefit from a hybrid education model, which includes:
Take collegiate level (NATs, PSMs, etc.) Natal Astrology Module (NATs), Professional Astrology Module (PSMs), as they become available
Enroll each semester into Academic Live Classes of your choice, working toward the Professional IAA Diploma Program (2-4 year estimated completion).

The program follows a clear professional development pathway through the Natal Studies (NAT) curriculum, guiding students from foundational training in NAT studies, through to advanced professional competence with Professional Studies Modules and beyond into specialist training.
From NAT 5 onward, eligible students gain access to the Earn As You Learn Astrology Education Program, allowing them to begin applying their skills in professional contexts while continuing their studies. This is a student clinic program, the first of its kind worldwide, whereby we offer the ability for students to conduct live astrology consultations with clients that are too, willing to be part of that training.

Do I need any prior astrology knowledge to take NAT-1?
Yes! However, with the Personal and Professional Astrology programs, the Basic Astrology Self-Learning Course is included, it is specifically designed for beginners and will enable you to start NAT-1 (Foundations in Astrology) with everything you need to begin. We start with the fundamentals and build your knowledge systematically. This is the perfect starting point for your personal and/or your professional astrology education.
What's the difference between self-learning and live instructor?
These self-learning programs give you complete flexibility to study at your own pace with access to all materials and community support that you need. The live instructor access is available in various forms across all of the Education Programs, including Free Chart Delineation sessions and other community events available to Free and Program members. However, true instructor led classes available to the Professional Astrology Education Program are available as you the student enroll in the class you want for the semester, providing weekly scheduled classes via Zoom or GoToMeeting, real-time interaction with certified instructors, personalized homework feedback, and recorded sessions you can review anytime.
How long do I have access to the course materials?
While an active program member, you will receive lifetime access to all the 400+ video library of seminars, courses, workshops etc and as a Personal Education Program member, also all course materials for NAT and PSM studies, as well as the community forums once you sign up. For live instructor packages, all classes are recorded so you can access them at any time via the Community Learning area and review them anytime, even if you leave the program for any reason or finish your education, any live classes you have been involved in, you will be provided ongoing access to them at all time into the future via the Community Learning area, even if you continued as a Free Community Member.

Will NAT-1 qualify me to practice astrology professionally?
NAT-1 is the essential first module in your professional training. It provides the solid foundation needed to continue toward full certification as a professional astrologer through the complete IAA curriculum. This is the beginning of your certification path and details of this can be seen on our website, but it will not provide you the expertise to practice as an astrologer on it's own. Like all true education programs, it takes time to become professional and that journey, although ongoing for life, should have you able to practice astrology as a beginner after the completion of NAT-5.
What is the Basic Astrology-001 course included?
The Basic Astrology-001 online course (a 10 week, self -learning course, normally $249, live instructor lead normally $595), is a key foundational course available to those that join the Personal or Professional Education programs. This course reinforces key concepts and provides additional learning resources to strengthen your astrology knowledge and is required to prepare your foundational knowledge expected to be known prior to commencing NAT-1. It ensures you are ready and competent to begin.
Can I still attend the IAA and study on a per semester basis and pay per course?
Absolutely! You can choose to study however you want at the IAA, that is what we are aiming to do for you. You can study and pay per semester for courses and be a Free member of the community, or simply upgrade to a Community Education Program as well to have access to the resource library of over 400+ videos and take advantage of Community discounts on specialist workshops, intensives and mini-courses.
Are Live Classes available in my Time Zone?
Where possible, the IAA will endeavour to make available live classes in various time zones, however this is not always possible and from time to time, specific courses may not be available at a convenient time for you. This is why we are adding the self-learning courses to the Personal and Professional Education Programs, so you can still do the course material in your own time as well. We supplement this with Live Instructor Q&A sessions scheduled through each calendar month that you can join at any time to assist.
Can I cancel my Program at any time?
You can cancel at anytime you like and you can upgrade at any time too. If you cancel, your access to all features of the Program will cease and your Community Membership will resort to the FREE tier. Any Live classes you have attended as a student or individually purchased content from the Community Learning area you will continue to have access to ongoing.
